Strike Update: July 25, 2025

AFSCME will hold a 24-hour strike from midnight to 11:59 p.m. on Friday, July 25. UCSF expects to sustain critical operations across the campus and health system during the strike.

Dear UCSF Community,

We have received notice from the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 3299 that the union will engage in a 24-hour strike at UCSF on Friday, July 25, 2025.

Here are the details:

  • The 24-hour strike will begin at midnight on Friday, July 25 and end at 11:59 p.m.
  • The strike includes AFSCME’s Patient Care Technical (EX) bargaining unit and employees in the Services (SX) unit who will strike in sympathy.
  • Affected locations include UCSF campus sites and UCSF Health hospitals and clinics.
  • Picketing is expected in front of the UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay (1855 4th St.) from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Please visit UCSF In the Know for strike-related impacts at UCSF, including our shuttle schedules.

We expect to sustain critical operations for the campus and the health system during this one-day strike, with contingency plans focused on continuity of care, education, and research, and on supporting our many teams that make that possible.

Thank you for your ongoing work to support UCSF’s mission.

Sincerely,
