Advancement of Women
This award recognizes exceptional efforts toward the advancement of women at UCSF beyond the scope of an individual's job, area of research, or student training. Each year three individuals are selected—one faculty, one staff, one student/resident/postdoctoral scholar—and both women and men are eligible to receive this award.
Disability Service
This award recognizes exceptional leadership beyond the scope of an individual’s job, area of research, or student training in furthering the goal of achieving awareness and equity for the disabled community within the UCSF community.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership
This award recognizes exceptional leadership beyond the scope of an individual's job, area of research, or student training in furthering the goal of achieving greater ethnic diversity at UCSF.
Exceptional University Management
This award recognizes exceptional departmental and employee management by staff members who demonstrate outstanding dedication to the betterment of their staff and UCSF. Award recipients exhibit extraordinary professional performance and managerial service to the university beyond the scope of their individual functions at UCSF, and serve as role models for future generations of UCSF managers and supervisors.
Exceptional University Service
This award recognizes exceptional individual service contributions to UCSF by staff members who demonstrate outstanding dedication to the betterment of UCSF, devoting time as well as energy to serve the university and campus community. Award recipients exhibit extraordinary professional commitment to university service and citizenship beyond the scope of their individual functions at UCSF, and serve as role models for future generations of UCSF staff.
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex Leadership
This award recognizes exceptional leadership efforts and contributions to the advancement of LGBTQI+ people and communities at UCSF beyond the scope of an individual's job, area of research, or academic training. Each year three individuals—one faculty, one staff, one student/resident/postdoctoral scholar—whether LGBTQI+ or not, are selected to receive this award.
Public Service
Community service is inextricably linked to UCSF's mission of patient care, research and education and UCSF faculty, staff, students and trainees are actively engaged in public service in multiple local, regional and global settings. Each year this award recognizes and honors three individuals at UCSF—one faculty, one staff, one student / resident / postdoctoral scholar—who have demonstrated outstanding public service beyond the scope of their job, area of research, or training.
UCSF Medal
The UCSF Medal, initiated in 1975, replaces the granting of honorary degrees and is our most prestigious campus award. The recipients are honored at the annual UCSF Medal celebration.
The recipient of the UCSF Medal must have attained preeminence in an area encompassed by any of the missions of UCSF.
