Updated Strike Notice: November 20 - 21

Updated information about strike activity from November 20-21. The AFSCME union intends to strike at all UC locations.

Dear UCSF Community,

I am following up on yesterday’s message from Chancellor Sam Hawgood and UCSF Health President and CEO Suresh Gunasekaran to give you updated information about strike activity. Today, we received notice from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) union that they also intend to hold a two-day strike from midnight on Wednesday, November 20 until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, November 21. Unlike the UPTE strike, which is exclusively at UCSF, AFSCME has stated their strike activity will occur at all University of California locations.

This strike will occur at the same time as the strike by the University Professional and Technical Employees (UPTE) union for its Health Care Professionals, Research Support Professionals and Technical Units.

Sincerely,

Corey Jackson, JD
Chief Human Resources Officer
Senior Vice President, HR, UCSF Health &
Associate Vice Chancellor HR, UCSF
