Transformative Gift for Our Workforce Development
Crankstart Foundation pledges $14MM to train 2,000 for careers in health care and create a direct pathway to jobs in our health system and on campus.
Dear UCSF Community:
We are pleased to share the news of a transformative gift that UCSF has received to support not only our own workforce, but also the health of our community.
This morning, we announced a $14 million pledge from the Crankstart Foundation that will enable us to train 2,000 people over the next five years for careers in health care and create a direct pathway to well-paid jobs in our health system and on campus.
This is the first gift of its kind for workforce development at UCSF and supports our mission as an anchor institution to invest in the economic success of our community. We’re honored to be part of the foundation’s vision.
The resulting UCSF Career Pathways initiative will partner with six community organizations to train new workers for several critical roles in health care. It will be open to unemployed or underemployed San Francisco residents, as well as students at the SFUSD Mission Bay Linked Learning Hub at UCSF and transitional aged youth up to age 24.
Importantly, it also will be available to our own employees who are interested in training to become medical practice coordinators, medical assistants, and radiology technologists at UCSF.
We are deeply grateful to the foundation, as well as the many individuals who are helping carry out this vision. You can read more in our news announcement.
Sincerely,
