Redesign of Student Academic Affairs and Graduate Division in 2025
To meet the evolving needs of the University's education mission, there will be a redesign of the Student Academic Affairs and Graduate Division (SAA-GD) unit to create two campus educational units: the Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs and the Office of Education and Student Affairs.
Dear UCSF Community,
As a premier health sciences university, we are continuously re-evaluating our educational systems and structures as we navigate greater program complexity and changes in our community. To meet the evolving needs of our education mission, we are redesigning our Student Academic Affairs and Graduate Division (SAA-GD) unit to create two campus educational units: the Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs and the Office of Education and Student Affairs.
This positive change will allow our leaders to focus on strategic priorities and innovation, as well as to engage in continuous operational improvement. The reorganization will better align with the needs of faculty, staff, learners, and post-doctoral scholars who rely on our support and advice, and is in line with industry benchmarks for higher education.
In this new structure, Vice Provost and Dean Nicquet Blake will continue to lead the Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs. In this role Dr. Blake will support and enhance the graduate interdisciplinary programs that make UCSF unique by building and continuously improving systems to support student and postdoctoral trainees along with the graduate programs and principal investigators who work with our graduate trainees.
We are announcing the recruitment of a new Vice Chancellor of Education and Student Affairs (job posting). This new role will provide executive leadership and be accountable for overseeing the student experience for all students enrolled in health professions and graduate programs and for spearheading campus-wide educational initiatives and resources at UC San Francisco. Applications will be accepted through January 6, 2025.
Thank you for your partnership as we continue to support leading health sciences education and excellence at UCSF.
Sincerely,
Catherine R. Lucey, MD, MACP
Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
