Provisional Guidance Regarding Executive Orders Impacting Federally Funded Awards

Guidance on how to respond to federal agency directives supporting the recent White House executive orders as they relate to federally funded awards. Updated guidance will be provided as new information becomes available.

Dear Colleagues,

We are writing to provide guidance on how to respond to federal agency directives supporting the recent White House executive orders as they relate to federally funded awards. We will continue to provide updated guidance as new information becomes available.

  1. For federally funded domestic and international grants and contracts, UCSF principal investigators should continue their work.
  2. If you receive any agency notification ordering a pause, termination, or modification of your work, immediately forward it to Hal Collard, Vice Chancellor of Research, at [email protected]. Please do not respond directly to the agency. Vice Chancellor Collard and his team will work with you on the appropriate next steps.
  3. We encourage you to continue writing and submitting federal grants. Please work with your designated Office of Sponsored Research staff to confirm any sponsor updates or other requirements.

As you are aware, the policy landscape is quickly evolving. UCSF leadership is working to ensure the best path forward for continuing our critical research to advance health. We are closely coordinating with the UC Office of the President, the Office of the General Counsel, and the UC federal government relations team. Please see a message from UC President Michael Drake today providing additional information.

Thank you for the work you are leading. We recognize that it is an uncertain time and appreciate your ongoing leadership and collaboration.

Sincerely,

Sam Hawgood, MBBS
