Protect Our Community During Flu Season
Faculty, staff, learners, and volunteers across UCSF and UCSF Health must comply with the flu vaccination policy by November 1. The UCSF flu clinic schedule begins August 29.
Dear UCSF Community,
As flu season approaches, we will again strive to keep our entire community healthy.
To achieve this goal and to meet county public health requirements, all UCSF and UCSF Health faculty, staff, learners, and volunteers must comply with our flu vaccination policy by Nov. 1, 2025. We strongly recommend that everyone obtain a flu vaccine as the best protection for yourself, your family, our patients, our colleagues, and the entire UCSF community — creating a safer environment for patient care, education and research. If you prefer not to have the flu vaccine, you must submit a declination.
Compliance with our policy means either:
- Receiving the annual flu vaccine and updating your vaccination record, or
- Submitting a declination through our digital screener.
Ways to get your flu shot:
- UCSF Flu Clinics, starting Aug. 29
- Occupational Health Clinic locations, beginning Wednesday, Oct. 1
- Your primary care provider or local pharmacy, CVS, Walgreens, Safeway
- UCSF Outpatient Pharmacies (walk-ins at Mission Bay or Parnassus Heights; UCSF MyChart scheduling preferred)
- Flu Ambassadors in your department
More information can be found on the Influenza Immunization website. Additional updates will be shared this fall, including masking guidance and COVID-19 vaccine information.
For many people, influenza and other respiratory illnesses can lead to serious complications that require hospitalization. As an internationally renowned health sciences institution — known for groundbreaking research, top-ranked education, and world-class care — we share a responsibility to reduce these health risks for everyone who comes to UCSF to work, learn, teach, and receive care.
On behalf of UCSF leadership, thank you for doing your part to protect our community.
Sincerely,
Josh Adler, MD
