Our Commitment to a Climate of Inclusion

UCSF’s policies support our commitment to our PRIDE Values and principles of community. All UCSF community members must help foster our climate of inclusion.

Dear UCSF Community,

The start of the year presents an important opportunity to reaffirm our shared commitment to our PRIDE Values and principles of community, which include the rights and responsibilities of free expression on our campus.

UCSF welcomes and serves people of all identities, backgrounds, and beliefs. It is this diversity of perspectives and experiences that strengthens our ability to innovate and discover, while deepening our understanding of the communities we serve. In support of this ideal, I call on every member of our community to help foster and sustain a culture of academic inquiry grounded in respectful exchange, even when we hold different views.

To further these goals, please familiarize yourself with the following resources that support a healthy, inclusive, and safe campus climate:

UCSF’s policies relevant to expressive activities are aligned with California State legislation passed in 2024.

I am grateful for your ongoing collaboration in creating and maintaining an environment where all of us can work, teach, and learn together. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to UCSF’s mission of advancing health worldwide.

Sincerely,

Sam Hawgood, MBBS
