Grounded in Our Values, Committed to Our Mission
Message following the November 20-21, 2024 labor action expressing gratitude to those who worked to keep UCSF and UCSF Health running as smoothly as possible throughout the strike and requesting that all in the UCSF community recommit to our PRIDE Values.
To the UCSF Community,
Today, we welcome back our AFSCME- and UPTE-represented colleagues who chose to strike this week, and we extend our sincere gratitude to all who worked to keep UCSF and UCSF Health running as smoothly as possible throughout this labor action.
Because of your teamwork and dedication, we continued to support our mission, providing safe, quality care to those with urgent needs while sustaining critical operations across our campus and health system.
The strike has had an impact on all of us, and its effects will linger in the weeks ahead. At UCSF Health, teams are focused on accommodating patients whose procedures, appointments, and treatments were rescheduled, while across campus, colleagues are addressing backlogs and other challenges. We thank you for your flexibility, collaboration, and patience as we navigate these complexities together.
We remain hopeful that the University of California Office of the President and the unions will reach a fair agreement through continued good-faith negotiations. In the meantime, we ask everyone to recommit to our PRIDE Values and to have courtesy for one another. Disagreement is natural in times of tension, but harassment, retaliation, or behavior that undermines our community has no place here.
Let us stay grounded in what unites us—our shared purpose of advancing health and science for the benefit of patients, learners, and society. By supporting one another and working together, we can continue to uphold UCSF’s mission and values during these challenging times.
Thank you for your resilience and unwavering commitment to the communities we serve.
Sincerely,
