Deadline: Nov. 1 Flu Vaccinations

November 1 is compliance deadline for UCSF flu vaccination policy. UCSF community is urged to ensure that necessary steps have been taken to meet this requirement.

Dear UCSF Community,

Today, November 1, is the compliance deadline for UCSF’s flu vaccination policy. Please make sure you’ve taken the necessary steps to meet this requirement. All employees are strongly encouraged to get a flu vaccine to protect themselves, their families, and our community throughout respiratory illness season.

In previous years, we have achieved a 90% vaccination rate or higher and believe we can do so again, though we need 100% compliance with the policy. To date, compliance rates are 62% for campus employees, 78% for UCSF Health employees and 62% for Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland employees. Please take action today if you haven’t already.

What is compliance?

  • Compliance requires employees to submit either a flu vaccination record or a declination.
  • The easiest way to submit vaccination records is through an attestation on the digital screener
  • Several other options for submitting documentation are available here.

Where to get a flu shot

  • Flu shots are available at UCSF Occupational Health clinics during regular business hours, as well as through primary care providers and local pharmacies.
  • Employees can also go to the new UCSF Health outpatient pharmacies at Mission Bay and Parnassus Heights.
  • If your department has more than 25 people interested in receiving the flu vaccine, you can request an OHS nurse visit by emailing [email protected].

Why vaccinate?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone 6 months and older get a yearly flu vaccine as a safe and effective way to prevent severe illness and hospitalizations. Getting vaccinated helps protect you, your colleagues, your family, and the broader community.

Thank you for helping to protect our patients, colleagues, and community.

Sincerely,
