Celebrating Commencement

As UCSF’s commencement season comes to a close, we're celebrating our graduates and the entire UCSF community whose dedication and support help make their achievements possible.

Dear Colleagues,

Over the past few months, our schools and programs have hosted dozens of commencement events and celebrations. At UCSF, commencement is a vibrant recognition of the achievements of our graduates. Please join me in congratulating all the graduating students and trainees who are the next generation of UCSF health professionals and discovery scientists whose work will change the world.

These moments and accomplishments of our graduates reflect the excellence of all members of the UCSF community.

Across our schools, labs, and care settings, you make education a hopeful and transformative endeavor. Every UCSF employee contributes to the accomplishments of our graduates, from the shuttle drivers and Campus Life Services teams that ensure a welcoming and supportive learning environment to our clinical teams that model clinical excellence and our food service professionals that keep our students nourished. Our faculty bring academic rigor and mentorship, and our academic staff build systems and provide support that allow our students and trainees to thrive.

Commencement season also affirms our enduring purpose and recognizes that this work is built on a powerful legacy. Generations before us have established a foundation of excellence, integrity, and service. It is now our responsibility and opportunity to extend that legacy with intention and momentum. The impact of what you do each day does not end at commencement but endures with the discoveries we will advance and the communities we will serve.

I invite you to engage with the stories and moments from UCSF’s commencement celebrations

Thank you for the dedication, expertise, and care you bring to UCSF every day.

Sincerely,

Catherine R. Lucey, MD, MACP
Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
