Dear UCSF Community,

Days before they were to begin their summer break, 19 elementary school students and two of their teachers were killed yesterday by a gunman in Uvalde, Texas. This heartbreaking tragedy follows another mass shooting that occurred less than two weeks ago in Buffalo, New York, by a self-avowed white supremacist who targeted the Black community.

More information on this town hall will be shared with the UCSF community soon.

On June 3, National Gun Violence Awareness Day, we will have additional opportunities to focus on education and advocacy for common-sense public safety laws that can reduce gun violence and save lives. Our colleagues at ZSFG have shared ways to demonstrate solidarity via the Wear Orange movement June 3-5 and the Wear Orange Walk across the Golden Gate Bridge on June 4.
