Dear UCSF Community:

I am pleased to announce that after a nationwide search we have selected Suresh Gunasekaran as the next president and chief executive officer to lead UCSF’s clinical enterprise.

Suresh joins us from University of Iowa (UI) Health Care, where he serves as CEO of the UI Hospitals & Clinics. In his new role, Suresh will lead UCSF Health and join my executive team and Chancellor’s Cabinet, contributing strategic leadership and guidance to the overall UCSF enterprise.

A seasoned health care executive, Suresh brings an impressive track record of leadership, marked by a commitment to patients, strategic vision, and strong financial performance. His dedication to quality and safety, supporting staff, and serving vulnerable communities will strengthen UCSF Health as it grows to provide greater access to families throughout California.
