Dear UC colleagues:
I am pleased to inform you that the UC Regents earlier today confirmed my recommendation that Larry Pitts be appointed UC provost.
Dear Colleagues:
In response to a desire by faculty, staff and students on all ten UC campuses to find ways that our university can support the rebuilding of Haiti¸ a group of UC students has taken the initiative to organize a “UC Haiti” Summit. As a UC system, we have much talent and expertise in many different fields needed to assist the Haitian people in the long process of rebuilding their earthquake-devastated country. We are pleased to support our student’s efforts in coordinating this one-day Summit.
Dear Colleagues:
In November, I informed the campus community that Kathy Dracup had announced her intention to relinquish her administrative appointment as dean of the School of Nursing and return to the faculty. Since then, the members of the search committee have worked diligently to advance the search. For a list of the membership, see http://chancellor.ucsf.edu/committees/Adhoc/DeanNursing/contents.htm. Their activities have included selecting a professional recruitment firm through a competitive process, obtaining input on the qualities sought in the next dean through town halls and interviews, and combining the resulting information with their own insights to define the position requirements.
