UCSF Diversity Celebration - October 2009

Dear Colleagues:

UCSF's tenth annual Diversity Celebration began on October 8, 2009, and continues with a series of activities that occur during the noon hour at most campus locations.

Wednesday, October 28

  • Stanton A. Glantz, Ph.D. —2009 Annual Book Project, Health Sciences West 301, noon to 1:00 p.m.
    Dr. Glantz, UCSF professor of medicine and leading tobacco control scholar and advocate of nonsmoker's rights for more than 25 years, and author of this year's book project selected books "Tobacco Wars" and "The Cigarette Papers," will talk about his life's work. A book signing will follow his presentation. Books are available in the University Stores on Parnassus and at Mission Bay and will be available for purchase the day of the event.  The Book Project was developed to foster sharing and discussion in classrooms, meetings, or one-on-one conversations to enhance our knowledge of cultural differences.

All members of the campus community are encouraged to attend these diversity programs and to plan ways to celebrate diversity within their own unit or department throughout the year.
