    Appointment - Dean School of Medicine

    On August 10, I informed the campus community that, after careful review and based on an extensive search, Dr. Sam Hawgood had agreed to serve as dean of the School of Medicine and vice chancellor—medical affairs, subject to Regents' approval.

    An important invitation from President Yudof to help protect UC

    The University of California is a vital engine of opportunity, possibility, and leadership for California. For 140 years, the university has worked to develop the human capital of California, energize its economy, and advance its health and wellbeing. UC education and innovation have helped power California’s rise to its position of global economic and cultural leadership. That can continue to be the case – but we need the state’s support.

    Dean of the UCSF School of Medicine & Vice Chancellor for Medical Affairs

    Since The Regents approved my appointment as Chancellor, I have been actively engaged in addressing a number of issues, some of the most important of which are appointments to the senior leadership team. After careful review during the past several weeks and based on an extensive search, I am pleased to announce that, subject to Regents’ approval, Dr. Sam Hawgood has agreed to serve as dean of the School of Medicine and vice chancellor for medical affairs.
