Bay Area Life Sciences Alliance (BALSA)


The Bay Area Life Sciences Alliance (BALSA) was formed in August, 1996 as a nonprofit organization. BALSA's mission is to devote its expertise and resources to improve the quality and quantity of research in the life sciences in San Francisco. BALSA has facilitated the consummation of the Contribution Agreement between UCSF and Catellus Development Corporation for the conveyance of the Mission Bay campus site to UCSF. BALSA and UCSF intend to work closely together to develop the Mission Bay campus site into the preeminent biomedical research facility in the United States.
