David is responsible for human resources and academic personnel services for all of UCSF, which includes 26,000 faculty, non-faculty academics and staff. He leads the strategic initiatives to ensure UCSF attracts, develops, and retains diverse, top-tier talent. He oversees HR's strategic and operational activities as well as occupational health, learning and organizational development, and the privacy office.

David has worked at UCSF, primarily in human resources, for more than 25 years. During that time, he has led UCSF system-wide initiatives as well as multi-campus efforts for the University of California. He also has developed strategies and implemented programs to improve the experience for patients at the medical center and the children's hospital.

David holds a bachelor's degree from Middlebury College in Vermont and a master's degree in business administration from San Francisco State University.
