"Nominations for UCSF Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Award"Semptember 17, 2008 Dear Colleagues: I write to request nominations for the 2009 Martin Luther King, Jr. Award. Each year three individuals -- one academic, one staff, and one student/resident/postdoctoral scholar -- may be selected to receive this award in recognition of extraordinary leadership and inspiration in furthering the goal of achieving greater ethnic diversity within the UCSF community. Each recipient will receive $2,000. The awards will be presented during the week of January 19, 2009, in conjunction with the annual campus celebration commemorating Dr. King. Please consider those UCSF individuals whose special efforts merit this distinction. The nomination form, award criteria, and a list of previous award recipients are available on the Chancellor's Office website under "Chancellor's Awards." I hope you will take the time to nominate deserving colleagues. Nominations are due by 5:00 p.m., Thursday, October 16, 2008, in the Office of Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity/Diversity, Box 0988, Laurel Heights Room 101.
